Specialized Library for Tropical Medicine

The institute, founded in 1900, contains the oldest and largest specialized library for tropical medicine in Germany. The library participates in the nationwide loan process for medical technical literature.

The library covers monographs and journals on the topics of tropical medicine, parasitology, immunology, virology and molecular biology (ca. 46,000 volumes, 48,000 offprints and 96 journal subscription, of which 56 are electronic), these are available for all employees. The library is able to obtain additional literature and keeps records of the institute’s history through its archives.

The library is open free of charge to the public and external visitors. As it is a reference library; lending is only possible within the institute.
