Call for applications 2026: Equipment at BNITM partner sites
VdF calls applications for the funding of equipment at partner sites of BNITM in the Global South, comprising new pieces of basic equipment, replacements, spare parts exchanges and repair including delivery, tax and customs duties.
One or several applications may be funded each year up to a total volume of € 30,000. Priority is given to basic equipment, i.e. equipment for which alternative funding is difficult to obtain. To allow for broad and effective support within the available budget, applications should focus on a limited number of essential items. Please note that the call only covers larger equipment (for example centrifuges, freezers etc.) and that smaller laboratory devices (like pipettes) cannot be funded.
Prerequisites for an application include that the piece of equipment serves several cooperative projects as well as the cooperation between institutions and that it will be placed at a partner site where a cooperation agreement with BNITM regulates access to the equipment and ownership after termination of the projects. The cooperation period with the partner site should exceed at least two years beyond the time of application. In addition, equipment cannot be funded at a partner site which received funding in the previous call. Further details are provided in the application form.
Eligible applicants include scientists from BNITM partner sites, as well as scientists and guest scientists affiliated with BNITM. It is mandatory to use the application form..
Applications including all documents should be submitted in one PDF file to kolander@bnitm.de by 01.03.2026. Incomplete applications will not be considered.
