The ‘Association of Friends` was founded in 1921. It is financed by membership fees, donations, bequests and capital market gains, and is regularly recognised as a non-profit organisation by the tax office.

As stipulated in the statues, the purpose of the association is to support the BNITM. This is achieved through funding programms. Currently, the association's activities focus on scholarships for doctoral students at the BNITM and for young scientists from low-income countries.

As a member, you will receive regular updates on internal matters at the institute and have an active say in the projects undertaken by the Friends' Association. Last but not least, you will have the opportunity to meet institute staff at the annual summer party. The annual membership fee is €50.
