Is an intervention safe and efficient?

For most neglected diseases, there is a lack of efficient drugs, vaccines and diagnostics. The reasons for this are a lack of economic interest, the complexity of many pathogens or a lack of clinical studies. Clinical studies are being conducted to evaluate new interventions, the off-label use of existing drugs is being investigated and specific diagnostic procedures are being developed.
