The Bernhard Nocht Institute for Tropical Medicine (BNITM) offers a structured PhD program. As a non-university research institute, the BNITM is not authorized to award PhD degrees. Therefore, the institute cooperates with universities - especially with the Graduate School of the Faculty of Mathematics, Informatics and Natural Sciences (MINGS) at the University of Hamburg. In total, the BNITM Graduate School comprises 40-50 PhD students, who usually complete their dissertations within three years.
