Email Signature Wizard

Using this signature wizard, you can create an official BNITM email signature and integrate it into your email client or webmailer so that it is automatically appended to every email you compose.

Notes

  • Apple Mail does not seem to support the use of ready-made HTML signatures, so using the signature generated here requires some additional work in Apple Mail. If you use Apple Mail, contact the IT department to integrate the email signature.
  • To delete individual lines (e.g. fax) from your signature, simply remove the content from the respective field.
  • To create the signature in English, please select English from the website's language menu (in the bar at the top or right-hand side of the page).

1. Fill in the fields for your email signature here. Then follow the instructions at the bottom of this page to integrate the signature you have created in your email client or webmailer.

2. Kopieren Sie den Inhalt dieses Textfelds in das Signaturenfeld Ihres E-Mail-Programms. Unten finden Sie Anleitungen hierzu.

3. Insert the signature in the correct place according to the applicable instructions below

Integrate signature in Thunderbird

  1. In the menu, navigate to the account settings (macOS menu bar: Thunderbird > Account settings; Windows:  Tools > Account settings - on Windows you may have to press the alt/option key to display the menu).
  2. Check the box "Use HTML".
  3. Paste the HTML code into the field "Signature text". These settings are saved automatically, no further confirmation is required.

Integrate signature in the Webmailer (RoundCube)

  1. After logging into webmail, navigate to Settings (cog icon) > Identities.
  2. Select the disired identity (typically the list only contains one entry).
  3. In the toolbar above the "Signature" field, click on "Source code"
  4. Insert the HTML code into the "Source code" field and click “Save.”
  5. If a check box "HTML signature" is displayed underneath this field, check this option.
(this depends on the selected user interface theme - we recommend selecting the theme "Elastic" under Settings > Preferences > User Interface in the section "Interface skin" as it is particularly well suited for mobile devices like phones and tablets)
  6. Then, click "Save" under the "Signature" field.
  7. Under Preferences > Compose Messages, select Always in the "Compose HTML messages" field.
  8. If the signature is not added automatically when composing emails, make sure that under Settings > Composing Messages in the section Signature the setting "Automatically add signature" is set to "always".

Integrate signature in Apple Mail

  1. Open Apple Mail and, in the menu bar at the top, go to "Mail" and select "Preferences".
  2. A new window opens up. Here, navigate to the top and select the symbol for "Signatures".
  3. In the left column, select your BNITM email address, which is displayed as "Bnitm" along with an icon showing an @-sign on a blue background.
  4. Beneath the center column, select the "+" and rename the newly created signature.
  5. In the text box on the right-hand side, put in a place holder text. This text is later replaced by the generated signature.
  6. Make sure that the box for "Always match my default message font" is not selected.
  7. Close and quit Apple Mail.
  8. Open Finder and, in the menu bar, go to "Go" and select "Go to folder...".
  9. A new window opens up. Here, enter ~/Library/Mail into the input field.
  10. In the newly opened Finder window, open the folder with the highest number after the "V". This is the folder that holds the latest version.
  11. Now select the subfolder "MailData".
  12. Now select the folder "Signatures".
  13. Select the most recently modified file that ends on .mailsignature and right click on it.
  14. Go to "Open with" and select TextEdit.
  15. Copy the HTML code generated by the signature wizard and paste it into the signature file underneath the already existing text.
  16. To make sure that the programm doesn't overwrite your signature, you have to lock the file. Choose the file, click the right mouse, use "informations" and set the checkmark to "locked"
  17. Save and open the signature preferences in Apple Mail to check if the signature looks as in the preview above.
